Glycoproteins are proteins with oligosaccharide moieties that emerge after glycosylation during post-translational or co-translational modifications of proteins. With the rapid development of protein drugs, glycoproteins have become increasingly important in therapy, including tissue plasminogen activator for myocardial infarction and stroke, erythropoietin for anemia, and various mono cancer therapy with cloned antibodies. However, the study of glycoproteins is extremely difficult due to the complexity of the structure of sugar chains on proteins and their derivatives.
