Metabolic methods based on mass spectrometry reveal the extensive complexity and dynamics of venom metabolites, and identify several types of compounds, including amino acids, organic acids, alkaloids, etc. In addition to peptides or proteins, the venom also contains many other components that can act independently or synergistically during the venom process, such as lipids. In order to investigate the lipid composition of various venoms, Creative Proteomics provides analysis services of the lipids in the venom through liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry.

Venom Lipidomic Analysis Services

Venom is a complex natural secretion that is a mixture of biologically active compounds belonging to different chemical classes, including proteins, peptides, polysaccharides and lipids. Lipids are a class of organic compounds composed of fatty acids or their derivatives, and glycerophospholipids and phospholipids are the main types of lipids in certain venoms. Creative Proteomics uses liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry to identify and quantify lipid species and provides venom lipidomic data to help clarify the molecular biology of lipid metabolism and the functional role of various lipids in venomomics. Services provided:

  • Apply the LC-HRMS-based non-targeted lipid method to investigate the lipid composition of the venom.
  • Use metabolic analysis software to generate multivariate statistical analysis, principal component analysis (PCA), and heatmaps.

Our technical process includes every step from sample preparation to LC-HRMS analysis. After our processing and analysis, you can obtain a complete and accurate venom lipid map. The specific technical process is shown in the figure below, which also includes some important technical explanations.

  • The lipid extraction protocol is based on the biphasic method.
  • LC-MS/MS analysis is performed using an UHPLC system together with MS.
  • QC samples are used to monitor the performance and stability of the LC-HRMS system.
  • The original data is processed by the marking view software, the peak value is calculated, the molecular feature data matrix is generated, and the variables are selected to ensure high-quality features.

Data Analysis

Creative Proteomics uses tandem high-resolution mass spectrometry to obtain high-precision MS data, which has higher reliability in venom lipid identification.
