Ant Venom Solutions

Ants are mostly poisonous. They inject or spray a venom mixture of biologically active organic compounds and peptides from the venom gland. The activities of ant venom include paralytic, cytolytic, hemolytic, allergenic, pro-inflammatory, insecticidal, antibacterial and pain-producing pharmacological activities, as well as non-toxic functions such as the role in chemical communication. Compared with snakes, scorpions and spiders, there is less research on the venom components of ants. Creative Proteomics provides ant venom solutions to help you understand the huge diversity of ant venom systems and the characterization and application of venom toxin components.

Introduction

Ant venom contains a variety of toxins and other types of molecules, including salts, sugars, formic acid, biogenic amines, alkaloids, free amino acids, hydrocarbons, peptides and proteins. These toxins may become useful tools for biological pesticides or drug development. The characterization of the functional effects and pharmacological properties of new ant toxins, especially peptides and proteins, will definitely become one of the most functional and important efforts in the research of ant venom, and has a high potential for application. However, the current research on ant venom peptides is rarely due to the small size of the specimen and the difficulty of collecting its venom. We aim to use "omics" technology to overcome these limitations and explore the components of ant venom in detail to understand the various toxins and their functional effects in ant venom.

Ant Venom Preparation Service

We are committed to helping you solve the problem of low venom in ant venom research, and provide ant venom sample collection and preparation services. The general process of ant and venom sample preparation is as follows:

Analysis Service of Ant Venom Components

We provide genome studies of ant venom components. At present, there are more than ten kinds of ants whose genomes have been sequenced, and hundreds of new available nucleotide data are provided. In addition to detailed genome analysis, we also constructed cDNA library based on ant venom glands to provide important tools for analyzing venom components and discovering new molecules that may have biological and pharmacological properties.

We analyzed the crude ant venom by LC-MS, and sequenced the separated peptides. Our comprehensive strategy includes three complementary methods: proteomics analysis (mass spectrometry-based sequencing), direct transcriptomics analysis of venom glands (RT-PCR and DNA sequencing), and data mining available RNA-seq transcriptome. The main research objects include the following components:
