Biofluid Biomarker Discovery Solutions

What Exactly Is the Biomarker Identified for?

Biomarkers are defined as intracellular biochemical components, structures, or functions that are sensitive and can directly respond to target cells or molecules in the organism. They can be used as an important indicator for clinical testing and analysis.

Our tissue biomarker discovery service can quantify up to 9,000 proteins per sample to identify the most promising and actionable biomarkers to support clinical decision making. However, not all biomarkers can be indicative of clinical prediction or diagnosis either. Candidate biomarkers are subject to analytical validation in the preclinical phase, i.e., testing the accuracy and reliability of the analyte of interest in patient samples. After that, biomarker analysis in clinical phase is performed to confirm that its performance in predicting or diagnosing clinical phenotypes is consistent with the results of the discovery and verification stage.

Body Fluid Samples for Biomarker Discovery

Clinical samples obtained from liquid biopsies are ideal for studying new biomarkers. The most commonly analyzed biological body fluids are blood (plasma, serum) and urine; other body fluids include prostate secretions, saliva, tears, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), and ascites. These alternative body fluid proteomes will be described in further detail as part of the search for powerful biomarkers in a non-invasive or minimally invasive manner.

Our Biofluid Biomarker Discovery Services

Initially, the sequencing depth and the number of proteins identified by mass spectrometry were limited, which led to a bottleneck in biomarker discovery. But in recent years, the rapid development of high-throughput proteomics technologies and methodological technologies has led to a new era of biomarker research. While most discovery-based clinical proteomics studies still use data-dependent acquisition (DDA) to identify potential biomarkers, the field of clinical proteomics is currently shifting to data-independent acquisition (DIA).

Creative Proteomics offers a comprehensive biomarker analysis service based on our discovery proteomics and target proteomics platforms. Simply send us your samples and we will select the most suitable technology strategy for your experimental purposes and achieve the most satisfactory results.
