Host Cell Protein Analysis

About the Solution

Host cell proteins (HCPs) are a heterogeneous mixture of proteins carried over from the host expression system, and the main impurities in the process of bio-therapeutic manufacturing. Either secreted or intracellular proteins released during cell lysis, HCPs might affect the enzymatic modification and stability of products, sabotage a certain purification step and induce immunogenicity. To reduce the possible damage caused by HCPs or simply evaluate the risk, it is necessary to identify and quantify HCPs during the manufacturing processes and in the final product.

This Infographic introduces two host cell protein analysis strategies: ELISA and LC-MS/MS. Approaches to detect a known target HCP or an unknown HCP when using LC-MS/MS are both provided. Download for more information.
